Book Recommendation: God Smuggler

The book begins by introducing us to Brother Andrew's early life in the Netherlands and his transformation from a rebellious teenager to a committed Christian. After joining the army, he realizes his calling to spread the Gospel and becomes a full-time missionary. He is drawn to the dangerous task of smuggling Bibles into countries where Christianity is prohibited. I worked with the Latin American director of “Open Doors”, Richard Luna.  He had Brother Andrew’s passion for the Gospel and helping the suffering church.

With unwavering faith and determination, Brother Andrew embarks on his mission to deliver God's Word to those longing for it behind the Iron Curtain. From his first secretive trip to Poland, where he cleverly hides Bibles in his Volkswagen Beetle, to later expeditions across the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, Andrew faces numerous risks and challenges. He encounters suspicious border guards, endures interrogations, and narrowly escapes capture.

Despite the constant threat of imprisonment or death, Brother Andrew's faith remains unshaken. He firmly believes that God will protect and guide him in his mission. Throughout the book, he shares remarkable stories of divine intervention, where God provides miraculous escapes from perilous situations. These stories serve as a testament to the power of prayer and the unwavering faithfulness of God.

As Brother Andrew continues his dangerous work, he establishes a network of secret partners and supporters who provide him with Bibles and financial aid. These courageous individuals, willing to risk their own lives, share Andrew's passion for spreading the Gospel and exemplify the solidarity of the global Christian community.

The book also offers a glimpse into the lives of those living under communist regimes. Brother Andrew encounters countless individuals who hunger for spiritual nourishment, yearning to read the Bible and learn about Jesus Christ. The stories of their encounters and conversions provide powerful insights into the impact of God's Word in the midst of oppression.

As the book progresses, Brother Andrew's fame grows, attracting the attention of both supporters and adversaries. His organization, Open Doors, becomes a renowned ministry dedicated to serving persecuted Christians worldwide. The book concludes with a reflection on the enduring power of God's Word and the significance of standing up for one's faith.

"God's Smuggler" stands as an incredible testament to the power of God, using one man's unwavering dedication to spread the Gospel. It reminds us of the immense impact that faith, courage, and perseverance can have in the face of adversity.
